Using the choir website

You can read this article to  guide you through the website and it's features


Who can join?

Our choir is an open choir for boys and girls from any schools, we currently have children from many different schools, from Beckenham, West Wickham, Hayes, Penge, Sydenham, Croydon, and Orpington.

Beckenham Junior Choir – boys and girls age 6 to 11
Beckenham Youth Voices – boys and girls age from 11

 

Is there a membership fee?

We charge a small fee each term, to cover the costs of our venues and music copying and copyright:
There is a one-off joining fee of £5 per member, then per term:

One child - £25
Two children - £36
Three children - £45

Please also download and fill in the "Gift Aid" form - as it is a means for us to reclaim the taxable portion of your fees as we have charitable status.

Is there an audition?

No, children of all abilities can join the choirs

 

Where do you meet?

We meet each week at Beckenham Baptist Church Hall, Elm Road, Beckenham

 

When do you meet?

Wednesdays in term time:

Beckenham Junior Choir: 6pm to 7.15pm
Beckenham Youth Voices: 7.20pm to 8.10pm

 

Are there concerts?

Yes, there are at least 4 main concerts each academic year. The choirs also occasionally sing choral evensong at different cathedrals such as Rochester and Southwark, however this is not compulsory.

 

Do you wear a uniform?

Yes, for our concerts, a black T-Shirt (Junior Choir) or a black polo shirt (Youth Voices) both with the respective logos are required wear for the concerts. Black trousers or black skirt with black shoes are also required. We do have some spare shirts, and would be grateful if those members leaving the choir could donate their shirts for others to use. During our weekly practises you can wear something comfortable.

 

Are the choirs a church choir?

No, the choirs sing a wide range of songs in various venues such as town halls as well as some churches in the local area.

 

Do the choirs only perform in the local area?

No, most of our concerts are in the local area but we also perform in areas further away such as Brighton, Eastbourne and Southwold as well as Rochester and Southwark cathedral.
