Our Spring Concert was a Blooming Success!

Who would want to stay at home and watch Blue and Jedward on the Eurovision Song Contest, when they could hear really beautiful singing at Bromley Road Methodist Church?  Perf_002The church filled up with friends and family, and the choirs received a very warm welcome from Revd Patrick Kandeh.

The Junior Choir was in excellent voice, beginning the Spring Concert with the aptly named I like the flowers, I love the daffodils.  They obviously enjoyed performing all their songs, especially Come to the Fair (accompanied on violin by Ella Shaxson and Oscar Hinze) When Father Papered the Parlour (accompanied by an instrumental group of members of the Youth Voices, and Ella and Oscar), Old King Cole and One Song.

Youth Voices also performed with enthusiasm and with fine solo performances from Jay and Emily in A Transport of Delight (which prompted John to share with the audience his passion for the London omnibus)!  Youth Voices  also showcased God's Gifts by Carey Blyton, Summertime, Whisky in the Jar and joined with the Junior Choir for the grand finale of A la Cart by Judith Watson.

The audience was also treated to some amazing soloists.  Rhys sang Where is Love with a purity and sincerity which was very moving.  Sophie and Simon Kale harmonised beautifully in an upbeat  and confident performance of  the Jason Mraz song Lucky.     Yvonne, a former member of Youth Voices, returned as a guest soloist and wowed the audience  with Adele's Someone Like You. Stuart Kale, the renowned tenor, who spends such a lot of his time coaching choir member behind the scenes, was finally persuaded to perform. The audience laughed as he performed the famous monologue Albert and the Lion and cheered as he filled the hall with his wonderful voice in  I'll walk beside you and The Holy City.

Thank you to both Choirs and to all the soloists and instrumentalists for a wonderful night of unforgettable music.
