Friday, August 26th. – members of the two Choirs provided the lunchtime recital music for the weekly ongoing series at St. George’s Church in Beckenham High Street. We had a mix of solos and songs for the whole goup, including “They’re changing guard at Buckingham Palace”, “Summertime” (Gershwin), “The oak and the ash” and Rutter’s “All things bright and beautiful”.

Saturday, August 27th. – we were invited by Bromley Arts Council to sing for two spots in their annual Garden Party at Ripley, near Elmstead Wood.  The weather was not very kind, but the singing was appreciated by a large audience.

Many thanks to our young singers and to the pianists who were free to take part!  Everyone had a wonderful time on both occasions, even though the numbers were quite small and it was over the bank Holiday weekend.  Well done!

About us

The Beckenham Junior Choir is for children aged 7 to 11, and of all musical abilities. We rehearse weekly in Beckenham Baptist Church Hall in Elm Road, Beckenham, (See a map here ) and we have a broad repertoire, from carols to cantatas, from musicals to modern classics, from folk songs to film themes. We have even sung the Golden Touch, about King Midas, which was composed for us, by a former member, James Olsen.
