Our Concert at St. James's North Cray PDF Print

Junior Choir and Youth Voices:  well done in last Saturday night's concert!
My special "thank you" to a few people who rushed there from other events.
I thought that the singing was very good and Youth Voices managed very well on slightly smaller numbers than usual, with lots of Year 6s coming up trumps!

Well done, too, to the pianists and guitarists (two that night)!  The Junior Choir has both experienced older members and quite new younger singers working together and doing us great credit.

Thanks also to Chris Kendall for taking some great photographs, you can see photographs of the concert at St.James's North Cray here. You will need to enter your password, if you do not have have one yet please contact John for that!

I hope to see many of you at the picnic; term has otherwise ended and we
return in September.
John

Picnic in the park

bandstand_4765

The Croydon Road Recreation Ground bandstand has seen many musicians come and go in its 100-year history.

We are proud to add Beckenham Junior Choir and Youth Voices to that number! The sun came out and if one imagined hard enough, it really was a Summer's day!

There is a gallery of photographs taken by Nick Charles of this splendid concert on the Photobox site, where you can order prints if you wish. Remember to enter your choir password to see the photographs, just your password not the username for this gallery.

Thanks for the invitation from Stephen Tickner of the Friends of Croydon Road Rec. and the use of comfy deckchairs and a PA system.

The choirs sounded wonderful with another chance to play some favourites - Jonah Man Jazz was splendid!bandstand_4759

A big thanks to  our soloists and instumentalists and with the addition of a footbal or two, a good time was had by all. Please let us know if you enjoyed yourselves - we shall try to do this again!

Ordering photographs.

A few people have asked about ordering photographs so here is the link to them on the Photobox.com website, Broadstairs photographs. Please enter in just your password when you get there.

The site no longer automatically adjusts them for brightness etc. and our webmaster Mark doesn't have enough time at the moment to do all 158 photographs! If the one you would like to order needs a bit of help please email Mark with the numbers of the photographs and he will do them on an individual basis, and load them back to photobox for you to order.

About us

The Beckenham Junior Choir is for children aged 7 to 11, and of all musical abilities. We rehearse weekly in Beckenham Baptist Church Hall in Elm Road, Beckenham, (See a map here ) and we have a broad repertoire, from carols to cantatas, from musicals to modern classics, from folk songs to film themes. We have even sung the Golden Touch, about King Midas, which was composed for us, by a former member, James Olsen.
