Beckenham Junior Choir & Youth Voices
About Us
The Beckenham Junior Choir and Youth Voices is a non-profit organisation working to promote music for young people in our community. We meet to practice weekly during term time, and perform several concerts in varying venues over the year.

Beckenham Junior Choir (BJC)

The Beckenham Junior Choir was established in 1993. It gives children in the Beckenham, Bromley and surrounding areas, a unique singing opportunity covering a wide variety of music in a non-competitive atmosphere.
The Musical Director is James Carpenter. He has extensive choral and church music experience, and been closely involved with the choirs for a number of years - his three children have sung with BJC and BYV.
John Webber, founder of Beckenham Junior Choir, is Musical Director Emeritus, and continues to be closely involved in the life of the choirs.
Due to the choir’s size and the number of people involved in helping us, it is possible to spend some time divided into separate groups, allowing younger members to build their confidence with simpler music, whilst continuing to challenge the older singers.
Beckenham Youth Voices (BYV)

The popularity of the BJC has led to this group for boys and girls between 11 - 18 years old. A popular way of members of the junior choir continuing to sing and perform as part of our concert programme.
We encourage all musical activities and young pianists put their teaching to good use by accompanying the choirs in both practice and performances.
We hold regular concerts (normally at the end of term), and although our base is the Baptist Church, we have performed concerts for retirement communities in Sydenham and West Wickham and as far afield as Broadstairs, Eastbourne and Romney Marsh, Kent and Southwold, Suffolk.
